“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid again; and for joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.” Matthew 13:44 NKJV
The most valuable treasures are well hidden, and there are so many that are yet to be discovered that by searching too hard, we find nothing. Sometimes they are so close and within reach that we don’t realize that the most valuable thing is just a step away from being discovered. Jesus spoke of a Kingdom as a hidden treasure, and it seems that it is possible to find it. That treasure is discovered in his love and kindness. Someone can find it in a field called salvation, where you discover a life of joy, peace, and forgiveness. In Christ I found what I was looking for: the treasure of my life. When you open the treasure, you are surprised because it is not money, nor anything that the world offers, but restoration, freedom, and total enjoyment of even the simplest things in life. A family, a marriage, a beautiful relationship with others, and above all, a freedom to love God and life with hope.
I don’t know what your greatest treasure would be, but if you find it, pay the price and become the legal owner so that no one can take it away from you. Everything that Jesus Christ offers is of great value; treasure it and always live with great expectations because God will surprise you at any moment with the most precious treasure you can find.
Where you least expect it, you will find a treasure. Maybe it is not as you expected or asked for, or maybe it just went unnoticed, but try to discover the value of all the people and things you have in your life. Always ask, “What’s in there?” And value your treasure with love.
